Quarteto Vocallys formed in 1995 with four vocalists: sopranos Ângela Nery and Nadja Fernandes, tenor Antônio Carlos de Oliveira, and baritone Luiz Carlos de Oliveira. They built their sound around Brazilian folk and classical pieces, releasing albums like "Canções Populares Brasileiras" in 1995 and "Canções Clássicas" two years later.
Their 2000 album "Breve Vem o Dia" included the title track that became their signature song. That same year, they faced plagiarism accusations about that song, though the claims were eventually dismissed. They kept recording through the early 2000s with albums like "Canções de Amor" in 2002 and "Caminhos do Brasil" in 2004.
Their catalog includes gospel songs like "Eu Te Agradeço, Senhor," "Rapaz Davi," and "Te Dou Glória," which show their work in religious music alongside their Brazilian folk and classical material.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
