Quartz formed in Brazil in 1983 with guitarist João Barone, bassist Nilo Romero, and vocalist Zé Rodrix.
They kept making albums through the late '80s like 'Pedra a Pedra' and 'Rodovia do Sonho,' and their sound shifted a bit over those years. The band went on hiatus in 1991 after some internal friction and Rodrix's drug problems, then came back together in 1998 with a different drummer for 'O Som do Deserto.'
Some of their other songs include 'Hard Road,' 'Mainline Riders,' and 'Stand Up And Fight.' They were still playing shows and putting out records like 'Holofote' in 2004, with Sérgio Melo on drums by 2008.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
