Quatro Verso formed in 2002 with four members: Pedro Oliveira on vocals and guitar, João Filipe on bass, Filipe Batista on drums, and António Alves on keyboards. They came together around a shared interest in poetry, literature, and alternative rock.
Their debut album 'Cada Prego do Espantalho' arrived in 2004, with the title track becoming a notable song. The band followed with albums like 'Segundo' in 2006 and 'Terceiro' in 2009, working across rock, folk, and electronic sounds.
Quatro Verso's lyrics sometimes touched on social and political themes, which drew both attention and criticism in Portugal's music circles. Their approach made them a somewhat divisive presence at times.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
