Quatro9Zero formed in the early 2000s in Duque de Caxias, a city in the Rio de Janeiro area. The band's name comes from the local area code. They started as four friends: Matheus Yurley, Rafael Silva, Leandro Azevedo, and Bruno Silva.
Their song 'Promessa' became known for addressing social issues in Rio's favelas. The track drew attention for its direct lyrics about poverty and police violence, which resonated with some listeners and drew criticism from others.
Rafael Silva left the group in 2006, but the remaining members continued. They released albums like 'PrÃncipe do Funk' in 2007 and 'Direto do Morro' in 2009.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
