Quebrapedra formed in Fortaleza, Ceará in the mid-1980s. The band featured Raimundo Fagner on vocals and guitar, Belchior on bass and vocals, and Ednardo on drums and vocals. They worked with traditional forró rhythms but approached them with a contemporary sensibility.
Their songs like 'Além Mar' and 'Samba No Ponto' showed how they could work within forró while bringing in other elements. The lyrics often touched on social themes and personal reflection, which sometimes put them at odds with more traditional listeners.
Quebrapedra recorded several albums during their active years. Their music found an audience that appreciated how they handled the forró tradition without being bound by it.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
