Queco formed in Madrid in the early 2000s around Daniel Quesada and Carlos Escobedo. Their debut album 'Tengo' came out in 2004, with the title track becoming a hit. The band's lineup included drummer Gustavo Montesano, bassist Diego Galaz, and keyboardist Chema Rivas.
They followed up with self-titled and '13' albums in 2007 and 2010, showing a shift toward more experimental sounds. Later releases included 'Guapa' in 2013 and 'Muchacho' in 2017. Songs like 'Licht,' 'Himmelfahrt,' and 'Ruf Mich An' appear in their catalog.
In 2006, Queco faced a legal dispute over the use of their song 'Inmortal' in a commercial. Escobedo has spoken about dealing with depression, which informed some of his writing. The band put out a 20th-anniversary collection in 2020.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
