Quest was a quartet from London with Jonny Mattock on vocals and guitar, Simon Tyler on lead guitar, Rich Clarke on bass, and Luke Rayner on drums. They released their debut album "The Longest Mile" in 2011, which included the single "Hunger." That song became their most recognizable track, with its straightforward rock arrangement and direct emotional pull.
After their debut, Quest put out two more albums: "Light Up the Dark" in 2014 and "The Reign Supreme" in 2017. Their catalog includes songs like "A El," "Donde Estas," and "Gracias Señor," which maintained a consistent rock sound throughout their run. The band faced some accusations of plagiarism at one point, which they denied, but they kept recording and releasing music through the 2010s.
Their lineup stayed stable across those three albums, with Mattock handling most of the songwriting and vocals. They were active for about a decade, building a modest following with their uncomplicated, guitar-driven approach. Quest's music never strayed far from the template they established early on, earnest rock songs built around Mattock's voice and Tyler's guitar work.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
