Quinteto em Branco e Preto formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1960s with Paulo Sérgio Valle on guitar and vocals, Edu Lobo also on guitar and vocals, Sebastião Neto on flute, Milton Banana on clarinet and saxophone, and Pedro Paulo on bass. They released their debut album 'Bossa Nova' in 1961, followed by 'Sempre Acesa' in 1962 and 'Amor em Paz' in 1963.
Their song 'Sempre Acesa' became particularly well-known, along with other tracks like 'Novo Viver' and 'O Tempo Em Que Eu Era Criança'.
Paulo Sérgio Valle died in 1994, and Milton Banana died in 2009. Edu Lobo, Sebastião Neto, and Pedro Paulo continued their musical careers separately after the quintet's active period.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
