A Brazilian band that has kept the same lineup while exploring introspective territory for nearly two decades.
If you're new to them, start with 'Esquecer de Mim' and 'Cinza Claro.' That gives you the early hit and one of their other notable tracks.
Their 2006 debut album 'Esquecer de Mim' gave them their most recognizable song, but the catalog goes deeper with tracks like 'Cinza Claro' and 'Carne Viva.' They've maintained a consistent lineup and approach through five albums, which is rare enough in any scene. The music tends toward the melancholic and introspective, with songs like 'Narciso' and 'Nuvens Rosas' exploring similar emotional territory as that early breakthrough.
R. Diaz formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 2000s around singer-songwriter Rodrigo Diaz, with guitarist Bruno Migliaccio, bassist Marcelo Faria, and drummer Andre Simões. They released their first album, 'Esquecer de Mim,' in 2006, and have put out records roughly every four years since, 2009, 2013, 2017, and 2021.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
