A Syracuse band that carved out space with strings in the late 2000s indie scene.
For their early feel, 'Ghost Under Rocks' from 'The Rhumb Line' holds up. Later, 'Dance With Me' shows how they kept the energy.
They arrived with a sound that wasn't quite like other indie rock bands at the time, the violin Rebecca Zeller played gave songs like 'Is It Too Much' a different kind of lift. That 2010 track got some radio play and stuck around in their sets. Even on later albums like 'Beta Love' and 'Superbloom,' that string element remained part of their identity.
They formed in Syracuse in 2006 and released their first album, 'The Rhumb Line,' in 2008. Through the 2010s they kept putting out records, including 'Need Your Light' in 2016 and 'Superbloom' in 2020.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
