Rabelo MC formed in 2015 with brothers Felipe and Lucas Rabelo from the Santa Cruz neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. They started making music as a way to express what they were living through in their community. The track 'Conflitos Interno (part. Hilquias O Fênix)' came out in 2017 and became one of their better-known songs.
Their lyrics often deal with personal struggles and neighborhood realities, which has sometimes drawn criticism for being too direct. They've worked with rapper Hilquias O Fênix on collaborations, and their music pulls from Brazilian rhythms alongside hip-hop and funk. Another song, 'Um Só Caminho,' shows their style of mixing those influences.
They've put out albums like 'Reflexões' in 2018 and 'Alma Lavada' the following year. The music doesn't shy away from difficult subjects, which has connected with listeners who recognize similar situations in their own lives.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
