Raça Júnior

Raça Júnior formed in São Paulo in the late 1980s with Jairzinho on vocals, Edinho on guitar, Alexandre on bass, and Serginho on drums. They released their debut album 'Um Pouco Mais de Amor' in 1990, which included what would become their signature song, 'Outra Chance Pra Nós Dois.'

That track, along with others like 'Quero Mais' and 'Tristeza, Solidão,' helped establish their sound, a mix of romantic ballads and upbeat dance numbers that found a steady audience on Brazilian radio. Their 1992 album 'Amor em Segredo' and 1994's 'Só Quero Ser Feliz' followed a similar pattern.

In 2002, lead singer Jairzinho was arrested for drug possession, an incident that drew significant media attention. The band continued performing and recording afterward, maintaining a stable lineup for most of their run. They've also been involved with charitable work supporting underprivileged communities.
