Radamés & Aida Gnattali

Radamés and Aida Gnattali were a Brazilian musical couple who worked together for decades. They're best known for writing the official state anthem of Mato Grosso do Sul, 'Hino de Mato Grosso do Sul,' which won a composition competition. Radamés was a composer, conductor, and arranger, while Aida was a pianist and composer.

Their work extended beyond that anthem. They wrote pieces like 'Suite Retratos do Brasil' and 'Concerto para Violão e Orquestra,' moving between classical, popular, and folk styles. Another piece of theirs, 'Apanhei-te Cavaquinho,' shows up in their catalog as well.

Both were born in the early 20th century and died in 1988. Their partnership lasted through much of their adult lives, creating music that was sometimes noted for its support of artists from minority backgrounds, which occasionally drew criticism from more conservative quarters.
