Rafaews formed in Brazil in the late 1990s around Rafael Souza on vocals and guitar, Fabio Figueiredo on drums, and Adriana Souza on backing vocals. They started with a straightforward pop-rock sound and a clear focus on faith-based themes.
Their song 'Ação de Deus' from 2001 became a significant hit in Brazil, an uplifting track about the transformative power of faith that brought them wider recognition. Other songs like 'Toda Poesia' and 'Prá-Jesus' reflect their consistent lyrical focus.
They released albums including 'Novas Canções' in 2003, 'Deixa o Teu Rio Me Levar' in 2005, and 'Tudo Novo' in 2008. Over time, their sound incorporated more traditional Brazilian rhythms alongside modern worship elements.
Rafaews worked with other Brazilian Christian artists like Aline Barros, Fernandinho, and Bruna Karla. Rafael Souza remained the central figure throughout the band's activity.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
