Editor's note

Raí Saia Rodada's forró with a rough edge

A Brazilian band that kept playing through lawsuits, accidents, and lineup changes.

For their early hit, listen to 'Solteiro Sem Futuro'. 'Tapão Na Raba' and 'Sentimentos de Vaqueiro' show their popular side.

They're one of those groups that just kept going no matter what got thrown at them. 'Solteiro Sem Futuro' became a major forró hit in 2006, even though it landed them in a lawsuit over the melody. Their sound has picked up sertanejo and axé touches over the years, and they've worked with names like Wesley Safadão.

They started in 2001 in Campina Grande as Raí e Seus Companheiros, with Rai Lima on vocals. After the original accordionist and zabumba player left in 2003, Rai brought in new members like Netinho Play. Rai fractured his leg in a 2007 car accident but performed on crutches and in a wheelchair.

Raí Saia Rodada is a Brazilian forró band that formed in 2001 in Campina Grande, Paraíba. The group started with vocalist Rai Lima, accordionist Romim Mata, and zabumba player Adelson Ribeiro, originally calling themselves Raí e Seus Companheiros. After Romim and Adelson left in 2003, Rai brought in new members including accordionist Netinho Play and zabumba player Dudu.

Their song 'Solteiro Sem Futuro' from 2006 became a major hit in Brazilian forró, though the band faced a lawsuit over unauthorized use of its melody. In 2007, Rai Lima was in a car accident that left him with a fractured leg, but the band kept performing with him on crutches and in a wheelchair.

They've released more than ten studio albums, with songs like 'Tapão Na Raba' and 'Sentimentos de Vaqueiro' among their popular tracks. Their music has incorporated elements of sertanejo and axé over time. The band has collaborated with artists including Wesley Safadão and Xand Avião, and has appeared on various television shows.
