Archive material and source history
Raised Banner formed in Cleveland in 1998, with Doug Williams on vocals, Joe Hirsh on guitar, Chris Herman on bass, and Scott Radcliff on drums. They put out three albums: 'Refuse to Be Silenced' in 2001, 'Live at the Castle' in 2003, and 'Still Against the Machine' in 2006. Their songs like 'Life Ends' and 'And His Tears Fell Down' were straightforward hardcore with political lyrics about war and injustice.
They played shows that sometimes got police attention, and their records were called subversive by some. The band kept going with it, using their platform for anti-war and animal rights messages. They broke up in 2007.
