Raissa Isabel

Raissa Isabel formed in Rio de Janeiro around 2017, a Brazilian band led by vocalist Raissa Machado. They work with samba and MPB, the kind of Brazilian popular music that feels lived-in rather than polished. Their 2018 single "Eu Te Encontro" caught attention with its straightforward melody and lyrics about finding someone, or maybe about not finding them. It became one of those songs people remember.

They've put out a few albums since then, including Raissa Isabel in 2018, Eu Te Encontro in 2019, Coragem in 2021, and Sem Medo in 2023. The band includes Henrique Almeida on guitar, Lucas de Souza on bass, and Pedro Mota on drums. Their songs like "Nunca Me Deixou" and "Teus Olhos" follow a similar path, built around Machado's voice and arrangements that don't try too hard to be anything other than what they are.

Some of their lyrics touch on social issues, which in Brazil can mean different things depending on who's listening. They haven't shied away from that, but they also haven't made it their entire identity. The music comes first, the kind that plays in neighborhood bars and at family gatherings, where the rhythm matters as much as the words.
