Raiz Cortante formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2009, with Gabriel Thomaz as frontman. The lineup settled in 2012 with guitarist Pedro Lucas, bassist Thiago Aranha, and drummer Bruno Guedes. They've released three albums: their self-titled debut in 2011, followed by 'Vanguart' in 2014 and 'Aos Olhos Nus' in 2018.
Their music often deals with political and social themes, which has drawn both praise and criticism. The song 'Ela Não Cai do Salto' became a viral hit in Brazil, known for its message about female empowerment.
Their sound mixes rock with elements of samba and funk.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
