Ramiro Turrubiantes grew up in Tepito, a working-class neighborhood in Mexico City. He started playing music early, drawing from Mexican folk traditions and rock.
In the early 2000s, he formed a band called Testimonio. Their song "Testimonio" became known for its direct lyrics about social issues, including police brutality and economic inequality.
Turrubiantes was detained in 2012 after performing the song at a political rally. He has released several albums, including Testimonio in 2003, RaĆces in 2006, and Voz de la Calle in 2018.
