Ramli Sarip

Ramli Sarip started playing music in Kuala Lumpur when he was young, forming his first band, The Jesters, around age 16. In 1976, his album 'Srikandi' came out, and the song 'Gadis Srikandi' from it became a hit. The next year, he released the album 'Adam Dan Hawa', which included the title track that would become one of his most well-known songs.

That song, 'Adam Dan Hawa', is a love ballad that has stayed popular in Malaysia. It's often covered and is a common choice in karaoke. Other songs people know include 'Bukan Kerana Nama', 'Dikir Fikir', 'Doa', and 'Iqra'.

He kept making albums through the 1980s and 1990s, like 'Sejuta Wajah', 'Perjalanan', 'Warna', 'Hati Emas', and 'Keabadian'. He worked with musicians like Mohamed Ali Khan on guitar and Jatt Ali Khan on bass. In 1989, there was some trouble over a song called 'Sekeping Hati Yang Luka', which some religious authorities found offensive.
