Ramón Agustín Carbajal Hurtado came from Santa Cruz de Arriba in Chiapas and started playing music as a teenager in the late 1950s. He was known simply as Ramón. In 1967, he released 'Viejo Amor,' a ballad that connected with listeners in Mexico and became his signature song.
His career lasted several decades, and he recorded other tracks like 'Agítalo,' 'Almas Gemelas,' and 'Armonía.' He sometimes performed alongside other Mexican singers, including Vicente Fernández and Juan Gabriel.
In the late 1970s, Ramón dealt with legal trouble related to drugs, which interrupted his work for a time. He kept recording afterward, but 'Viejo Amor' remained what most people remembered him for.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
