Randy Meisner was a founding member of Poco in 1968, playing bass and singing alongside Richie Furay. The band mixed country and rock at a time when that combination was still finding its footing. A few years later, he became one of the original Eagles, providing the high harmony and bass lines on their early records. His voice is on their first album, including the song 'Take It Easy'.
He left the Eagles in 1977. After that, he worked on solo material. Songs like 'Deep Inside My Heart' and 'Never Been In Love' came from this period, showing a more direct, personal side than his work with the bands. He was from Scottsbluff, Nebraska, born in 1946.
