Randy Nota Loca formed in Bogotá, Colombia in the late 1990s. They started as a group of musicians working through the usual early struggles, eventually landing on a sound that mixed Colombian rhythms with pop. Their 2002 debut album "Contigo" gave them their first real break, with the title track becoming a recognizable hit.
That song "Contigo" and others like "Baila Baila" and "Loquita" show what they were doing: straightforward, melodic pop with enough rhythmic energy to keep things moving. They kept releasing albums through the 2000s, including "Ritmo Caliente" in 2004 and "Fiesta!" in 2006.
Luis Eduardo Rodríguez handled lead vocals and songwriting for the group. Their music drew some criticism at the time for being too polished or commercial, but they kept at it through that decade, putting out records that worked well enough for radio and parties.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
