Randy Rhoads was born in Santa Monica, California in 1956. He started playing guitar early, influenced by players like Jimi Hendrix and Ritchie Blackmore. After some time with Quiet Riot, he joined Ozzy Osbourne's new solo band in 1979.
His guitar work on songs like "Crazy Train" and "Mr. Crowley" helped define that era of heavy metal. The solos were intricate but never just flashy, with a melodic sense that made them memorable.
What's left is a small but influential body of work. Those guitar parts still get played by people learning the instrument, not as historical artifacts but as music that holds up.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
