Raphael Coutinho is a Brazilian singer and songwriter who draws from the forró and baião rhythms of Northeastern Brazil. He grew up listening to Luiz Gonzaga and Jackson do Pandeiro, and that regional sound comes through in his music.
His debut single 'A Tua Vitória' came out in 2018 and found an audience with its message about overcoming adversity. Other songs like 'Limpe Oh Deus' and 'Vem Sobre Mim' followed, and he released albums including 'Raízes do Nordeste' in 2020 and 'Vai Que Vai' in 2022.
Some critics have questioned whether his approach to traditional Northeastern music is authentic, but he has described his work as a celebration of his cultural background. He won the Prêmio Multishow de Música Brasileira for Best New Artist in 2019.
