Raptures formed in Seoul in the early 2010s with vocalist Jeonghyeon, guitarist Dongjun, bassist Hyeonwoo, and drummer Minjae. Their debut single 'Into The Light (feat. Jeonghyeon)' came out in 2016 and found an audience with its blend of alternative and pop elements.
They followed with several EPs including 'Reflections' in 2018 and 'Echoes' in 2019, along with singles like 'Wings' and 'Lost in Translation.' The band's music often dealt with themes of love and searching for meaning.
Some critics questioned their genre-blending approach, but they kept releasing music through 2021's 'Luminescence' EP. Their sound featured ethereal melodies and Jeonghyeon's distinctive vocals.
