Raul Midón was born in New Mexico in 1966 and lost his sight at age three. He started playing guitar early, developing a fingerstyle technique that became central to his sound.
He's released seven studio albums, including 'A World within a World' in 2007 and 'Synthesis' in 2012. Songs like 'Everybody' and 'Waited All My Life' show his blend of soul and jazz influences. He's performed with Stevie Wonder, India.Arie, and Esperanza Spalding.
In 2018, he publicly criticized the Smithsonian Institution's decision to remove a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. His band has included bassist Tony Grey, drummer Andre Hayward, and keyboardist Kevin Robinson.
