A British heavy metal band from the early '80s, built around brothers Mark and John Gallagher.
For a sense of what they were about, 'Rock Until You Drop' and 'The Savage and the Hungry' still sound like they were recorded yesterday. That's the Raven sound.
Raven came out of Newcastle with that first album 'Rock Until You Drop' in 1981, and the title track became a quick favorite. They were part of that British heavy metal wave, known for high-energy shows. Songs like 'The Savage and the Hungry' and 'Take it Away' show their style, loud, fast, and built to last.
Their 1983 album 'All for One' gave them a bigger push, with artwork and lyrics that got censored in a few places. They kept putting out albums like 'The Pack Is Back' and 'Mad' through the decade. By the late '80s, their moment in the mainstream had passed, but the Gallaghers kept the band going into the next decade with albums like 'Architect of Fear.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
