Rayan Vasconcelos grew up in Salvador, Bahia, where his father played saxophone and the local music included samba, bossa nova, and axé. He started out singing with the band Filhos de Jorge in the early 2000s before going solo. His first album came out in 2004, called 'Mulher Sensual.'
In 2008, his self-titled album included the track 'Morena Sensual,' which became widely popular in Brazil. Other songs like 'Aonde Está Você' and 'O Amor do Reggae' followed a similar relaxed, melodic approach.
He put out another album in 2010, also titled 'Morena Sensual,' which continued in that vein. The music doesn't try to reinvent anything, it's just uncomplicated Brazilian pop with a steady beat and clear vocals, the kind of thing that works well at a beach bar or on the radio on a hot afternoon.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
