Razorlight formed in London in the early 2000s around singer Johnny Borrell, guitarist Andy Burrows, bassist Carl Dalemo, and drummer Christian Smith-Pancorvo. Their self-titled debut album arrived in 2004 with songs like 'Golden Touch' and 'In the Morning' that caught attention with Borrell's raspy delivery and the band's straightforward rock energy.
A few years later, 'Slipway Fires' went to number one in the UK. That album included 'America,' which became their biggest international single. The band's lineup shifted over time, with members coming and going while Borrell remained the constant frontman.
They put out 'Burden of Proof' in 2018, and their catalog includes tracks like 'Before I Fall To Pieces' and 'Fall, Fall, Fall' that kept a place on indie playlists. Razorlight's sound had a simple, guitar-driven appeal that worked well on radio during that mid-2000s stretch when UK guitar bands were having another moment.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
