Rbx

Rbx was a hip-hop group from Compton, California, formed in 1989 around rapper and producer Timothy Brown, who sometimes went by Tim Dog. They took their name from the acronym "Ruthless By Nature," which fit their confrontational style. Their music came out of that specific time and place, with songs like "A.W.O.L. (Escape From Death Row)" and "Blunt Time" capturing a raw, unpolished energy.

That 1992 track "A.W.O.L. (Escape From Death Row)" became their most notorious release, a direct attack on Death Row Records and its founder Suge Knight. The song sparked a public feud that involved threats and legal challenges, pulling the group into the center of the era's label wars.

They put out several albums through the 1990s, including "The Rbx Files" in 1992 and "East Coast, West Coast" the following year. Their sound shifted over those records, sometimes incorporating collaborations and showing a more layered approach than their early work suggested. But they're still remembered primarily for that one explosive moment and the handful of tracks that channeled Compton's tense atmosphere at the time.
