Realidade do Samba formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1995 around composer and singer Marquinhos PQD. The band's core included Marquinhos along with Anderson PQD and Juninho PQD on vocals and percussion, later expanding to include several other PQD family members and Thiago Costa on cavaquinho.
They released albums like "Realidade do Samba" in 1997, "Samba Pra Quem Gosta" in 1999, and "Pra Ser Sambista" in 2003. Their song "Fica Comigo" came out in 2003 and became one of their most recognizable tracks, alongside others like "Meu Desejo" and "Viagem."
Early on, some established samba circles questioned their approach, but they developed a following with their energetic live shows. They won a Prêmio da Música Brasileira award and performed for audiences in Brazil and internationally.
