Really Red formed in Liverpool in 1982 with Brian James on vocals and guitar, Mick Dale on bass, and Tony Prescott on drums. James had been in The Damned before starting this group. They put out three albums: 'Red' in 1985, 'Midnight Melodies' in 1987, and 'The Frozen Ground' in 1991.
Their song 'Balance of Terror' became their most recognized track, dealing with Cold War anxieties. The band's lyrics often touched on political themes, which sometimes stirred debate. Their 1984 single 'Nuclear Device' drew particular attention for its direct approach to the subject of nuclear war.
