Rebeca Lindsay formed in Salvador around 2010, starting with vocalist Renata Bastos and guitarist Rafael Ramos. They played local shows and open mics for several years before things shifted in 2016 with the release of "Pode Chorar." That song connected with people in a way their earlier work hadn't, and it became something of an anthem.
Their first album, "O Sol da Bahia," came out the following year in 2017. They've kept recording since, putting out albums like "Novos Horizontes" in 2019 and "Resiliência" in 2021. Their sound pulls from pop and reggae, along with Brazilian rhythms, and you can hear it in tracks like "Bater Deprê" and "Tempestade de Amor."
They're still based out of Bahia. The band's music tends to work with straightforward, heartfelt lyrics over grooves that are easy to move to, which is probably why songs like "Me Libertei" and "Super Pop Dont Stop The Party" have found an audience.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
