Rebeca Matta came up in São Paulo, where she started writing songs that drew from Brazilian pop, rock, and MPB. Her debut album arrived in 2016 with the long title 'Garotas Boas Vão Pro Céu... Garotas Más Vão Prá Qualquer Lugar...', and its title track became something of an anthem for listeners who appreciated its directness.
Songs like 'A Novidade' and 'Seja Lá o Que For' carried that same straightforward, personal quality.
She worked with musicians like Thiago Abrahão on guitar, Gabriel de Castro on bass, and Rodrigo Villar on drums. After that first album, she put out 'Eletrocardiograma' in 2018 and 'Desejo' in 2021.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
