REC

REC formed in 1995 with Marcos Almeida on vocals, Mauricio Takara on guitar, Flávio Miranda on bass, and Alexandre Carlo on drums. They had some early struggles getting attention from labels. Things changed in 1998 when their song 'A Única Esperança' caught on nationally. The track became something of an anthem, connecting with listeners in a way that pushed the band into wider recognition.

Their music pulled from Brazilian rhythms along with rock and pop. Albums like 'De Frente pro Crime' (1999), 'Até o Fim' (2002), and 'Quem Tem Coragem' (2005) contained songs that often dealt with social issues and personal struggles. Tracks like 'Afeganistão' and 'P.o.l.i.c.i.a. (protesto Organizado De Luta Interna Contra A Intolerância Armada)' showed their tendency to write about inequality and political themes, which drew both support and criticism.

The lineup shifted over time. Flávio Miranda left in 2006, replaced by Marlon Silva. Mauricio Takara departed in 2010, with Lincon Lima taking over on guitar. Through these changes, they kept recording and playing shows, maintaining a focus on their particular blend of music and message.
