REDCHAIR formed in 2005 with Lee Sung-jae on vocals, Ryu Hwan-hee on guitar, Yang Min-ho on bass, and Kim Yeon-seo on drums. Their debut single "Will you go out with me? (날랑 만날래)" became an instant hit, establishing them with a pop-rock sound that felt raw and emotional.
They released six studio albums between 2006 and 2016, including "Going Away" in 2008 and "The Red Chairs" in 2012. In 2009, bassist Yang Min-ho left the band, which forced the remaining members to regroup with a replacement.
Some critics found their lyrics too explicit or sentimental at times, but the band maintained their approach to writing about love and relationships. Their music incorporated elements beyond pop-rock, touching on folk and jazz influences across their catalog.
