Rede Globo was a Brazilian musical group put together for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Their main job was to record an official anthem for the tournament, which became "Coração Verde e Amarelo (Copa do Mundo 94)." The song featured a lineup of notable Brazilian vocalists including Fábio Jr., Zeca Pagodinho, Daniela Mercury, and Gilberto Gil.
That original 1994 version was successful enough that they recorded another version for the 1998 World Cup, "Coração Verde e Amarelo (Copa do Mundo 98)." They also released a few other tracks tied to television events, like "Carnaval Globeleza" and a New Year's special song from 1989-1990.
Despite the involvement of several respected artists, Rede Globo essentially functioned as a one-off project for the World Cup. They didn't maintain a traditional band career or release a full album. The group's output is mostly remembered for those football anthems, which became fixtures during the tournaments.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
