Reflexo Urbano

Reflexo Urbano formed in 2005 in São Paulo, Brazil, with childhood friends Alexandre Rodrigues on vocals and guitar, Guilherme Rodrigues on guitar, Marcelo Monteiro on bass, and Victor Bianco on drums. They put out their first album, 'De Alma Aberta,' in 2007, which included the song 'Meu Melhor Amigo.' That track became their breakout hit, a straightforward rock-pop tune about friendship that connected with listeners.

They followed that debut with a few more albums over the next decade, like 'Reflexo Urbano' in 2010, 'Nosso Mundo' in 2014, and 'Além do Horizonte' in 2018. Their sound pulls from rock, pop, and funk, but it's mostly built around accessible melodies and lyrics about everyday bonds. Another one of their songs, 'Polícia,' shows a slightly different side, touching on social themes.

In 2012, the band dealt with some public scrutiny when they faced plagiarism allegations over a song called 'Não Posso Viver Sem Você.' The matter was eventually resolved, but it was a reminder of how quickly things can get complicated once you have an audience. Through it all, they've kept playing shows and putting out music that feels familiar and direct, anchored by that early friendship among the members.
