She's best known for singing "A Whole New World" with Peabo Bryson for Disney's Aladdin in 1992, which won an Academy Award. She was born in New Jersey in 1963 and grew up singing in church choirs. In 2004, she was treated for uterine cancer. Her discography includes albums like Stay with Me and Reachin' Back.
