Regis e Rhoni were a Brazilian duo who met as teenagers in Rio de Janeiro. They started performing in local bars and clubs before their 1986 single "Aeroporto" brought them national attention. That song, along with others like "Liguei Pra Dizer Que Te Amo" and "Eterno Amor," established them as popular romantic music figures in Brazil.
In the early 1990s, they had a legal dispute with their record label over creative control, which led to them leaving the label and taking a break from music. When they returned in the mid-1990s, some critics found their lyrics and performances too provocative, though the duo defended their approach as reflecting real relationships.
They released albums throughout the 1990s and 2000s, including Coração de Papél (1988), Amor Que Cai do Céu (1993), and Só Pra Te Amar (1997). Regis handled vocals and guitar, while Rhoni sang and played bass.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
