Renato Reis was born Renato Ferreira dos Reis in 1943 in Rio de Janeiro. He started his career in the early 1960s with the band Os Boatos, which included Sérgio Sampaio and Tutti Moreno. The group put out a few albums before breaking up in 1969.
He went solo and in 1973 released an album called "Renato e Seus Blue Caps." That record had the song "Eu Não Me Esqueço de Você," which became his best-known track. He kept making albums through the 1970s and 1980s, sometimes working with other musicians like Victor Ramil.
Reis died in 2007. His music, especially that early hit, still gets played in Brazil.
