Archive material and source history
Renovo Gospel Music formed in 1998 around vocalist Wilian Nascimento and a few other musicians. They started with limited resources and some skepticism from parts of the gospel scene in Brazil.
Their 2003 debut album took its title from the song "Tá Afim," which became their most recognizable track. The album's release marked a noticeable shift for the group.
Some traditional listeners criticized their modern arrangements and lyrics, but they kept recording. Later albums included "Rasgue o Seu Céu" in 2006 and a live recording from São Paulo in 2012.
