Resistência Reformada formed in 1998 as a Brazilian heavy metal band with an evangelical perspective. The lineup included Leonardo Gonçalves on vocals, Fábio Carito on drums, Alisson Carito on guitar, and Felipe Souza on bass. Their first album came out the following year.
Their 2002 single 'Evangelho Carnal' became their most recognizable track, with lyrics that questioned religious hypocrisy within Christian communities. Another song, 'Mundo de Fantasias,' appeared in their catalog. The band released several albums through 2011, including Exílio in 2005 and Revolução in 2008.
Their straightforward critiques of organized religion drew criticism from conservative evangelical groups in Brazil. In 2001, they faced accusations after a concert attendee reportedly damaged a Catholic church, though the band itself wasn't charged. They continued performing and recording despite these controversies.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
