Revelation X came out of California in the early 2000s, led by vocalist Scott "Shadow" Hall. Their 2005 debut single "California" got them noticed on alternative radio, a song about the state's appeal and letdowns that became their calling card.
They put out albums like "Into the Void," "The Fire Within," and "Phoenix Rising," moving from more introspective material toward a progressive sound. The band's lineup included Evan "E.V." West on guitar, Jake "J.K." Peters on bass, and Tyler "T.J." Johnson on drums.
In 2010, there were plagiarism claims around "California" that got dismissed but stirred some talk. Their lyrics sometimes drew criticism for being politically charged. They've toured with acts like Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Chevelle.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
