Background notes

Archive material and source history

Reverence formed in Manchester in the late 1990s with Ethan Carter on vocals, Damien Bishop and Samuel Hayes on guitars, Nathaniel Stone on bass, and William Richards on drums. Their debut album 'After the Leaves Have Fallen' came out in 2003, featuring songs like 'Bleed For Me' and 'Monster' that mixed heavy riffs with more atmospheric moments.

By 2006, the band had fractured. Carter and Richards were the only members left after Hayes and Stone departed. They kept working together, eventually bringing Reverence back with new musicians. The songs from that first album, particularly the title track 'After the Leaves Have Fallen,' still show up in their sets years later.
