Reynaldo Armas was born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela in 1953. His father was a guitarist who taught him to play the cuatro, and he formed his first band when he was fifteen.
In 1986, Armas was falsely accused of murder and spent several years in prison. He wrote songs while confined, and after his release and exoneration, he kept making music. His 1995 album "Egoísmo" included the title track that became popular with listeners.
Armas worked with artists like Vicente Fernández and Juan Gabriel. His songs, including "La Muerte Del Rucio Moro" and "El Cardenalito," draw from ranchero traditions with emotional themes.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
