Riccardo Gnerucci was born in Montecarlo, Tuscany, and started performing with his siblings in a band called I Fratelli Gnerucci. They played local festivals and clubs, and in 1976 released their debut album, Amore e Fantasia.
In 1978, Gnerucci recorded Ricordati Di Me, a song with lyrics by Felice Piccarreda. It became a national hit in Italy, staying at the top of the charts for several weeks. The song's popularity spread beyond Italy, and it remains his most recognized work.
He continued performing, with Ricordati Di Me staying in his setlists for years afterward.
