The melody caught on quickly, though some questioned whether Marasco had borrowed it from another composer. A legal review cleared him of plagiarism.
He recorded albums like "Riccardo Marasco Canta Napoli" in 1963 and "Il Balconcino Fiorito" the following year. On stage and in the studio, he worked with musicians including guitarist Guido De Angelis and violinist Salvatore Accardo. Another of his songs, "Maremma Amara," also appears among his most remembered work.
Marasco kept recording through the mid-1960s, putting out "Ricordo" in 1965 and "La mia Napoli" in 1966. His voice and those Neapolitan melodies, especially in "Il Balconcino Fiorito," have stayed familiar in Italy long after.
