Rico Calegari formed his band in 1995 in Porto Alegre, Brazil, with Rodrigo Mello on bass, Marcelo Jardim on drums, and Alexandre Pancotto on keyboards. Their debut EP was called "Vem de Mim." The group's sound mixed pop, rock, and reggae, drawing from influences like Bob Marley and The Beatles.
Their 2004 album "Sete Mares" brought wider attention, anchored by the single "Basta o Amor e Nós." That song became something of an anthem in Brazil, and the band toured extensively. They released several more albums over the following years, including "O Mundo É Nosso" in 2006 and "Singelo" in 2008.
In 2008, drummer Marcelo Jardim left the group and was replaced by Eduardo Held. The core lineup of Calegari, Mello, Pancotto, and Held continued recording and performing. Their later work included albums like "A Alma do Samba" in 2010 and "Bossa Nostra" in 2015.
